Marcus Doughty, OTD, OTR/L, CHT

Founder, Hands On Therapy Education

Marcus Doughty is an occupational therapist and certified hand therapist with a career devoted to the advancement of hand therapy practice and education. With a deep commitment to elevating the field, Marcus is known for his ability to teach through hands-on demonstration, translate complex concepts into accessible examples, and foster strong collaborative relationships between orthopedic surgeons and therapy teams.

His top strength lies in orthotic design, fabrication, and education—an area in which he leads with innovation and clarity. As the founder of Hands On Therapy Education, Marcus has built a platform dedicated to equipping therapy professionals with the skills and confidence needed to excel in upper extremity rehabilitation.

Marcus currently practices with Great Plains Health in North Platte, Nebraska, where he splits his time between the outpatient therapy clinic and the orthopedic surgery office, working in close coordination with the hand surgery team. With the rural nature of Nebraska, Marcus also provides critical mentorship and support to therapists across western Nebraska, helping ensure access to high-level hand therapy services throughout the region.

A natural educator at heart, Marcus has found his true calling in mentoring and training therapy professionals in the field—bridging the gap between clinical excellence and real-world application.

Jamie Lee, OTD, OTR/L

Co-Founder, Hands On Therapy Education

Jamie Lee is an occupational therapist with over 8 years of experience and a strong passion for hand therapy, patient connection, and creative clinical practice. She is the co-founder of Hands On Therapy Education, where she combines her love for teaching, innovation, and community outreach to help therapists grow in confidence and skill.

For the past 6 years, she has specialized in upper extremity care, working closely with certified hand therapists and orthopedic and hand surgeons to provide comprehensive care in outpatient orthopedics. Her background also includes valuable experience in inpatient rehabilitation and acute care, giving her a well-rounded perspective on patient needs across the continuum of care.

Known for her personable approach, Jamie enjoys getting to know her patients, understanding their hobbies, professions, and daily routines—so that therapy is not only effective but meaningful. As a woodworker and DIY enthusiast, she brings creativity into her clinical practice, especially in custom orthotic fabrication and hands-on interventions.

Outside of work, she enjoys outdoor activities, running, sports, and hunting. Her greatest joy is spending time with her husband and their daughter. She is especially passionate about building strong relationships with fellow providers in the community and contributing to the growth of new programs that serve others in unique and impactful ways.
